ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police along with Pakistan Rangers and other security agencies on Saturday conducted search operation in various areas of Tarnol Police Station and arrested 19 suspects including six Afghan nationals besides recovering a cache of weapons from them, police source said.
According to details, officials of Islamabad Police, Pak Rangers and other security agencies conducted search operations in various areas of Tarnol Police Station including ‘Sarai Kharboza’ and its adjacent areas. During one search operation, also participated by ASP (Saddar Circle) Umer Khan, 19 suspects were arrested and more than 130 houses were screened.
Police arrested six Afghan nationals residing illegally in the country while arms and ammunition were recovered from the nabbed persons. All the suspects have been shifted to the police station for further investigation. SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani said that the purpose of the search operation was to ensure high vigilance in the city and every effort would be made to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens.
He also appealed to the citizens of the federal capital to remain vigilant and inform the police in case of any suspicious activity around them.
Police official tortures senior citizen: A police official on Saturday allegedly tortured a senior citizen near the Faizabad bus stand.
The police official deployed at a check post near Faizabad bus stand exchanged harsh words with a senior citizen and tortured him, locking him at the police station. The citizens took to the road against the incident and chanted slogans against the police for misbehaving with the elderly person. Later Senior Superintendent of Police Sajid Kiyani took notice and suspended the police official and released the senior citizen. The identity of the citizen could not be ascertained immediately.
