On the second day of the ninth spell of monsoon rains on Saturday, it turned extremely dark in Lahore in the afternoon, followed by light to heavy rain, which flooded roads and inundated low-lying areas, creating great inconvenience for the people, especially for those already battling floods.
In no time, several localities of the city turned into pools of water, badly disrupting routine life. The situation was worse at Zarar Shaheed Road, Jorre Pull, Harbanspura and other low-lying areas.
It rained cats and dogs at Nishtar Park Sports Complex, while heavy rain was reported from Multan Road, Chuhng, Mohlanwal, Shahdara and surroundings. It also rained in Township, Model Town, Green Town, PECO Road, Ferozepur Road, Muslim Town, Dharampura, The Mall, Jail Road, Wahdat Road, Canal Road and suburbs. So intense was the rain that water entered people217;s homes and even hospitals.
The Emergency Ward of the Jinnah Hospital and corridors were flooded, while water started dripping from the ceiling.
There were also reports of thundershowers from other Punjab cities, including Gujrat, Manawala, Pindi Bhattian, Hafizabad, Ferozewala, and Nankana.
