ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has filed a reference against PTI leader Aleem Khan in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and requested action against him under the law on submitting fake affidavits.
The reference states that Aleem Khan had submitted a fake affidavit to ECP in the by-elections which he contested against Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. In the affidavit, an allegation was leveled against Sadiq that he had transferred votes from NA-122 constituency without seeking prior consent of voters, while Aleem Khan had submitted affidavits of some voters of same constituency in this regard. The affidavits submitted by some voters revealed that they had cast their votes in favour of PTI in general elections 2013 but in October 2015 their votes had been transferred illegally to NA-122 constituency.
Citing Adnan Saleem as a voter of PTI, it is notes that his name was not registered in the electoral roll of 2013, so how was his vote transferred to another constituency. It is worth noting that in the 2013 general elections, Sadiq was declared successful in from constituency NA-122, but his victory was challenged by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Later, the election tribunal, in its verdict in the rigging case, validated Imran’s stance and ordered re-polling in this constituency.
In NA-122 by-election, held in October 11, 2015, the PTI nominated Aleem Khan as its candidate against Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the candidate of ruling PML-N. In a tough contest, Sadiq defeated Aleem Khan, who however filed a writ petition in the ET and alleged that Sadiq had won the election through rigging. Rashid Qamar, the ET judge, discharged the petition, terming it non-hearable. In November 2015, a writ petition comprising of approximately 800 pages was filed by Aleem Khan in ECP, stating that before the by-election, some 30,500 votes were transferred or cancelled.
